Well Warwick, you saved the coldest day for last, what a shocker! -3 degrees! I guess that’s the way it is, isn’t it!
On our last day at camp, the air had a sense of reflection and contemplation, the pranks had stopped and all were thinking about the challenges put forward during the week. The final secret was revealed: I walk in HOPE. Joe gave the final challenge to live in the reality of the Cross, while Sare finished off the story of Joseph with the loved ‘Brick Testament’. Dan and Sam continued to make us laugh with their antics while learning the memory verses.
One of the coolest things was hearing feedback from the local staff at the camp site, both the grounds staff and the catering staff loved us and said that there was something different about TeenStreet and how we conduct ourselves. Pray they heard some of the secrets and the love of Jesus!
The final session was Launchpad, where the we went through the whole camp, each day and looked forward about the challenges we’ll face going back into ‘normal life’. The xG guides have 25 days of studies to look at, which will be awesome to read.
Just a note to keep an eye out on our Facebook page for some background videos and the vids from Dan and Sam!
Pray for those that gave their life to Christ and those that recommitted. We heard and saw some awesome stories!
It’s been a pleasure writing for you! Till next year!
As our time at TeenStreet begins to draw to a close, Day 5 was a day of final challenge. Where the guys and girls split up for some deep and meaningful chats, in topics that really hit home. Meeting God, and removing the barriers that get in the way of growing with Him. And not only that, but our character as Christians (both new and old) and what things can influence our character and potentially draw us away from the character that God has set for us in His Word.
As Dan and Suzie (Duzie) left back to Brisbane to fly back to America (they have 6 camps in the next 7 weeks, wow!) the whole camp was in a mood of reflection on what we’d learnt during this past week and to start to live the messages that were heard.
Two electives in INTERACT of note was the information session for the coming Nepal mission trip, and the Art session. It’s amazing how two different things, worlds apart can both bring glory to Him, art as an expression and proclamation of worship, and mission as the proclamation of His name and the gospel! Campers ensured that the sessions weren’t empty!
The day concluded with a bonfire at a local campsite, in conjunction with Throne Room. Speaker Graham S. gave a final challenge to the campers to live a 3-D life (Decide, Disciple and Dedicate). This was a great chance to bask in God’s creation and really have the final large session at TeenStreet QLD 2011.
Something that your kids may mention when they get home are NET groups: these are the groups that the campers sleep in, study with, eat with and sit with during teaching sessions. The aim of the NET group is to connect teens in a deeper way and to keep them accountable to each other. This also gives the leaders a chance to concentrate on the 6 campers in their room to assist in any way possible.
It’s 11:30PM as I write this and the bus will leave at 4PM tomorrow…Will you pray that those that have unfinished business with God to do so before leaving? And pray for those that have come to Christ or have recommitted; that they stay in the faith and start/continue to grow in Him.
As the thermometer dropped below the magic zero mark in Warwick, Day 4 kicked of with a mellow feeling to the day, we were so cold!! After a breakfast of spaghetti and sausages, the morning kicked off with todays secret: “I will keep going”. Duzie and the team talked about running the race, and the importance of putting all the choices we make to God and letting Him be in control.
This was a great challenge leading into the main part of the day; “Hands and Feet”. This was a time where campers were able to participate in three community events: cleaning a local’s house, visiting a nursing home and J.C Epidemic were at a skate park. This was a great opportunity to put into practice the things that were learnt so far during the week. And what a great chance to tell people about the gospel of Jesus Christ! There was a large turn out to the park to see J.C Epidemic and the community connected with the campers at TeenStreet. The nursing home was also a great success with the leaders asking the campers to come again sometime! The lovely lady connected with the campers while her house was being cleaned too!
Tonight’s Throne Room was something else…A challenge to tear down the walls and barriers that can stop us from progressing with our walk with God. Music was played, prayers prayed and tears shed as the TeenStreet director Andy Carnell shared his passion behind the camp and the importance of keeping plugged in through prayer.
So today’s buzz word is: Shhhh x 0.5. This a time where the camp site is completely silent, a time where we can ALL sit, be still and know He is God. Campers are even encouraged to just sit there without any distractions, and to just pray and talk to God! The best thing is, even the most rowdy campers take this time seriously and are still.
Tomorrow is the last day for Dan and Suzie (Duzie) which will be sad as God has had a great impact through them on the campers (and staff too!!). They will be missed!
Till tomorrow! Camp is almost over :(
Day 3 in Warwick and the frost on the grass this morning let us know that we were in for a cold one… but that did not stop the masters of muck Sam S & Jono R from punishing the campers with a pool full of porridge! We got off to a great start eating some pancakes before entering the first session to learn about the friendhsip that we can experience with God and the love that he shows us. After a few laughs while learning the memory verse and learning “How to perform a Man to Man hug” we went off in groups to study in NET times.
Throne Room today (Wednesday) was amazing, with commitments and recommitments being made to follow Christ, great worship and prayer!
A large feature of the day was INTERACT 2, with the Messy Games. Sam S and Jono R led the gang with watermelons, wheat-bix and jelly. Needless to say, everyone was very messy after that! See the photos here or on Facebook for the hilarities!
So what exactly is INTERACT? It’s a time where the campers can choose from a few different activities and see different things. For example, there were talk electives for boys and girls (about different issues such as purity and modesty), the MAF flight simulator, sports and Action Zone. A great time for the campers to have some fun, but learn too!
Please keep in prayers all the campers that made a commitment tonight, that God would establish them in their faith.
Also, we watched a football game tonight?
Till tomorrow!
Well what a busy time we’ve all had at TeenStreet on Day 2!
We woke up having survived a bitter cold night in Warwick to some bacon and eggs! Then straight into our first session where the concept of suffering and the pain we can feel as humans was demonstrated! Duzie reminded us to rely on God in all our struggles and how he feels our pain.
Fun times were had in INTERACT with sports, the MAF flight simulator, Girl Zone and Art Zone providing the kids with some really fun times! Throne Room once again was a great time of worship, art, testimony and prayer.
Which brings us to the Chill Zone. The Chill Zone is a huge 15x15m YWAM tent where people can come, sit, talk, drink chai and generally…chill!! The tent also hosts talks, movies and other events that are run throughout the day. Last night, the Chill Zone was taken over by the vocal (or not so) group, with SingStar/karaoke! Duzie, Sare and Joe all entertained us with the singing (or lack of thereof) talents!
Please make sure to check out the daily videos and the photos in the Media section!
Till tomorrow!
Day 1 has rolled in and out quicker than the bus the teens arrived on! (har har) No, seriously, the leaders woke up after a long setup day, ready to welcome 100 teens ready to discover the hidden secrets! The bus rolled in and the teens came out!
Dan, Suzie, Joe and Sare shared in the first session of the camp, the focus on the secret of us being favoured! With the main three points; You can embrace God’s dreams by living 3 facts: 1. I am LOVED 2. I am FAVOURED 3. I am SURROUNDED. Dan showed his skills as an illusionist, while Sare illustrated how God surrounds us daily.
Fast forward through a yummy lunch (burgers!), fun times in INTERACT and dinner (roast!) we all gathered once again into the hall to enter into the Throne Room.
In these daily blog posts we will cover some of the lingo used by the teens here such as: Throne Room, INTERACT, NET Times, Shhh Time and Chill Zone. Today we are looking at: Throne Room
The Throne Room is something that isn’t usually experienced at a regular camp. Throne Room is a time that is dedicated to the exclamation of our adoration for our King in the form of song! In other words, we get together and sing praises to our God. The 1 hour session is almost all worship with a quick recap of the days studies.
Photos will be up soon and the daily video will be uploaded tomorrow night.
Please keep Ben N. in your prayers as he was quite sick this morning.
Till tomorrow!
Well it’s 11:49PM and it’s been a busy day for the TeenStreet support team and staff getting the camp ready for the campers tomorrow! We have a team of about 20 on site at the moment putting up tents, connecting plugs and strumming strings! Not to mention the speakers getting ready to share God’s Word!
We have the massive YWAM Tent aka. ‘The Chill Zone’ up and running for you to have a place to hang and be warm! The Throne Room will be a place where we can ALL come and sing our adoration to the Creator!
One thing that the staff team are big on this year is: prayer. What an awesome way to be led, encourage and speak to God! And right from the start, at the training day on Saturday to tonight in the middle of the setup, we stopped and prayed…Will you do the same too and acknowledge the power of prayer?
Safe driving all and see you when the sun rises!
Look who is in town!!! Duzie, Joe and Sarah have spent the past couple of days in prayer and preparation for TS bringing together the main talks in our series “Secrets Revealed”. I overheard a few of their conversations and I think God has some special things to teach us! There has been a great deal of activity here as leaders put together the forum talks, we organise outreach opportunities in Warwick, organise buses and plan games and activities. It is starting to get exciting. Are you excited? Expectant? What are you most looking forward to at TeenStreet? What do you want God to do? We are only days away now….I look forward to seeing you soon!
TeenStreet Queensland 2011 is only 5 days away.
The preparation team is busy creating decorations, printing badges and getting ready to meet you all. Are you ready?
See you out at Warwick!
